As a Multimedia Journalist with E.W. Scripps Company’s ABC affiliate, KIVI “6 On Your Side,” Madeline has repeatedly proven her chops to the TV households of Boise, Idaho, as a committed investigator and creative storyteller.

Mike Sharp, Executive Producer, KIVI, writes, “[Madeline] carries herself like a pro and brings a creativity we’ve grown to depend on.” He added, “One of the things that makes Madeline stand out from other reporters, even in our own newsroom, is her ability to throw herself into a story without becoming the story… Madeline is someone on whom we can depend to handle the story with the appropriate level of creativity, personality, as well as solemnity.”

As ABC’s KIVI shares assets with FOX’s KNIN, Madeline creates content and appears in newscasts for both channels 6 and 9 in Southwestern Idaho.

When this story got pitched I remember thinking that Madeline White was attacking a windmill.  ‘There’s no way [names removed] are going to do anything with that.’ Well Maddie, you did it. Resources for offenders in Idaho Prisons now have access to resources from the suicide prevention hotline, and they got it because you asked them why they didn’t.  That’s shining light in a dark place,” said J Bates, News Director, KIVI.

Her several years of multi-platform storytelling fuel her belief in the power of video production. She honed her skills as a Multimedia Journalist at USC Annenberg Media, where she produced for several outlets, including everything from print to television to social media. It was here that she also served as a lead news anchor for ATVN, a weekly program broadcast in South Los Angeles.

Her background in social media management combined with her aptitude for editing shareable short form web videos makes her a unique and valuable asset in the newsroom. At Comexposium, she single-handedly produced, designed and edited all creative content for the brand, including a video she designed that played on Outfront Media’s premiere LED ad space in Times Square in New York City. At both Comexposium and Clique Media Group, her editing skills were put to the test in all facets of creative marketing, including building graphics, promotional videos for social, and signage for the events via the Adobe Creative Cloud and others.

Maddie was born and raised in Coronado, California, and spent most of her formative years singing, dancing, and acting in various productions, especially in CoSA, her performing arts program in high school. Having always thrived on stage and film, Maddie spent her undergraduate college years studying acting in Pace University’s prestigious BFA Acting program in lower Manhattan. Shortly after receiving her degree, she went back to her California roots (but this time, to LA), where she participated in various series, commercials, and films as an actress, earning her a coveted spot in the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA.

Motivated by an urge to pursue nonfiction storytelling, Maddie opted to attend the highly-regarded Master of Science in Journalism program at USC.

At Annenberg, Maddie excelled. As a member of the forward-thinking “Mobile and Emerging Platforms” team, she single-handedly drew thousands of eyeballs to Annenberg Media’s digital magazine by producing high-quality video packages and self-hosted news videos– several of which went viral on Facebook. She was personally responsible for the no. 1 farthest-reaching published video of the term with a video that reached over 400 thousand Facebook feeds. Overall, Maddie shot, wrote, edited, and produced 3 of the top 10 best-performing videos of the term.

Today, Maddie uses what she learned in her education to benefit the media presence for major companies and publications, bringing with her a strong sense of commitment to the human side of the story. Looking ahead, Maddie hopes to engage multigenerational audiences by combining her knowledge of mobile and emerging platforms with her passion for video journalism as a public service.
